Loch Katrine

Last weekend I had guests. I know, some of you may wonder who ever would visit me in this horrible rainy and grey place. However, as unlikely as it may seem, Susanne my friend from Cologne whom I met in New Zealand two years ago wanted to give Glasgow, Scotland and the highlands a try. (more…)

Edinburgh

When visiting Scotland, it is said that you cannot go there without visiting both Glasgow and Edinburgh according to my trusted best friend; the Lonely Planet guidebook. So yesterday after the conference we attended yesterday as representatives from Strathclyde University on “Mobility, Employability & Economic Development” at Heriot Watt University just west of Edinburgh, we went into town to have a look around.

‘Yes’ was the answer, and he was relieved that the man asking wasn’t French! - A small quiz is on the inside, so please read on…

Pathfinder

This is just a brief service announcement telling you a little about where I live and where I go, here in Glasgow. I’ve attached a map so that you can see where in the city I live, where the uni is and so forth.

Moving time is money time

I was once taking this online internet survey that would determine my level of greediness, and I was asked if I would kick a dog for 500$. Well, I did reply no to that particular question, but I must say, that if it had been a cat there would have been no doubt about it – I would have done it for a penny. So purely based on money; Martin, Benjamin and I will be moving to a new flat, in Buchannan view from today. Unite Students have been kind enough to offer us 200£ for moving, plus savings through a lover rent around the area of 125£. So that’s around 3700 DKK for those of us who use that currency.

Fall training - stage one

Well, I’ve finally seem to have figured out to get my bike over here, as my buddy Krogh from home will get it shipped after a minor repack in the beginning of next week. So until then, I’m trying to keep just a little fit and not descend to far into the abyss of deep-fried mars-bars, and bacon and eggs.

The very first day in a whole new kind of life

Last Friday I went to Leeds in England for a meeting with the management of Arla Foods UK. This is the sort of meeting that required for me to buy a suit (which you can read of elsewhere on my site) and to behave somewhat properly as well.

Dresscode

Suit

Suits are for people, who have run out of good arguments

And here I was, buying my very first suit. I suppose that I’ve asked for all of this my self. I got a slight taste of it this Tuesday, but it was really during the weekend I came to realize what my future would so very much consist of.

University Registration II

My new student ID card

Finally, at last, we made it. We have successfully registered at the University of Strathclyde, and are thereby to be considered real students. Excellent.
After en an infinite number of meetings, dates, and papers to be filled and so forth we managed to get everything sorted, as our advisor on our project, Prof. Umit Bititci signed to registration papers and allowed us to take post graduate classes and thereby delivering the magic number of 28 ECTS.

Death Has a Shadow

Well, as I woke up around ten this morning I though: “Why not go for a run” – Why not indeed. As I still haven’t received my bike and my body seems more and more luscious to go out and exercise I took up running again yesterday. I haven’t been running since I was in Greece so as always, it hurts like hell, to get started again after a longer break. And to make matters worse, we had a huge party last night…
